Indications and use: Amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of these organisms under the following conditions: Lower respiratory tract infections – caused by β-lactamase – producing strains of H. influenzae and M. (Branhamella) catarrhalis. Otitis media – caused by strains of H. influenzae and M. catarrhalis that produce ß-lactamase. Sinusitis caused by strains of H. influenzae and M. catarrhalis that produce ß-lactamase. Skin and skin infections caused by ß-lactamase-producing strains of S. aureus, E. coli and Klebsiella spp. Urinary tract infections caused by strains of E. coli, Klebsiella spp. And Enterobacter spp producing ß-lactamase.

Contraindications: Amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to any penicillin. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction associated with amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium.

Dosage: Pediatric patients: based on the amoxicillin component, Hibiotic® should be dosed as follows: Neonates and infants <12 weeks (3 months of age): due to underdeveloped kidney function affecting amoxicillin excretion in this age group, the recommended dose of Hibiotic® is 30 mg / kg / day, divided every 12 hours, depending on the amoxicillin component. The excretion of clavulanate in this age group did not change. Experience with the 200 mg/5 ml preparation in this age group is limited, so the 125 mg/5 ml oral suspension is recommended.
